Week in Review: February 22nd - 26th

Greg - President:
We are in the process of wrapping up the work our large steam cleaning project at 520 Kasota Ave for First Industrial Realty. Our crew did an outstanding job and are finishing up the duct cleaning and upstairs ceiling cleaning this week. Jeff and Michael have been great to work with and seem extremely dedicated to having the property back in great shape for their new tenants. I have been very impressed with the level of detail and effort they have put into bringing the property back to life. See our video post about this below for more details and a tour of the job site.

We also are working with a large town home association in Lakeville to take over their Snow Removal for the remainder of the year to relieve the stress on their IH maintenance personnel. If they have approval from their investment managers they will be able to have us begin work early next week cleaning up the edges of the property and on call for the next and hopefully last snowfalls of the year! Mitch and Greg will be kicking off this project on Monday if we get the approval.

A large local retail chain has been partnering with us to look at all their major contracts moving forward. We hope to be able to offer them single source solutions for Lawn, Snow, Parking Lot Maintenance and interior janitorial.

I worked with the IREM social committee to get the year kicked off and we will be contact other local vendors for IREM to get the golf event details hammered out in the next few weeks. We are so excited to have the event at the Minnesota Valley Country Club again this year. They have been a great host in the past. Hope we get the caddies again this year!

Mitch - Facility Service Manager:
Last weekend wax crews completed a top scrub/wax, and wet burnishing for one of our biggest customers in Eagan and Bloomington. This work is part of our quarterly floor work contract to keep our dialysis centers we manage looking great, and floors protected from damage of constant moving machines, wheel chairs, and other equipment. This weekend we wrap up this quarters work with one last facility receiving a wet burnish in Richfield.

Also this weekend we do a full carpet clean, and upholstery cleaning of chairs in desperate need! This project is in Apple Valley at a medical center that we provide multiple services for. This carpet is a rolling quarterly project as well, some quarters we do more than others but it keeps the place looking great. Last month we completed all their exam rooms for wax work as well. Its been busy, the center looks great and continues to let us help with more as opportunity arises in the maintenance department.

Just bought myself an upgraded vehicle, so I can now QC buildings in style! Liz and I are taking it for a trip to Rochester this weekend for engagement photos, then a visit to my future brother/sister in-laws for dinner and chasing their 1 and 3 year olds around the house. Then Sunday should be pretty laid back after church in the morning, bring on the R&R!

Tyler- Facility Service Manager:
I just returned from a vacation to Mexico which was a blast!! The weather was gorgeous every day. Enjoyed scuba diving, golfing, fishing, and eating great food every day!

Floor work was completed at two accounts in Brooklyn Park and Shoreview during my absence. I was able to visit one location already and the customer is very happy.

Also, scrub and wax projects are being wrapped up here in March at large medical customers of ours. These face lifts are much needed with Minnesota’s rough winters.

Eric - Night Manager:
We finally have the crew completely trained in at one of our large facilities. This is a great account, and I feel good that we have a hard working crew with one of our best contractors leading the way. I enjoy working with all of them, and really get a kick out of talking to all the guys out there. Although business is quite serious, they really do have a great sense of humor.

I've been quite impressed with one our stripping and waxing contractors as well. Not only is he very prompt and reliable, his quality of work has been great. Once again we do like to have fun and have had a few good laughs.

I hope the snow doesn't melt away to fast, as my sled has been calling my name all week.

Dick - Accounting:
We just completed converting all of our customer files from hard copy to electronic media which saves a lot of trees, not to mention office space.

We are also in the process of putting our insurance out to bid with local (Minnesota based) companies.

On Saturday, I am going to a Martini Blast that is for the benefit of Huntington's Disease. I am also walking in a benefit for Diabetes to raise money. City Wide Maintenance is sponsoring both events.

Shalee- Administration Manager:
I'm still the new girl in town.  Being newly relocated from the South, I am adjusting quite nicely to Minnesota, not only in the location, but in my new workplace as well.

I don't have much to contribute in the way of excitement, but I can tell you this:  I think we have the finest bunch of employees around town!  As I listen to them on the phones with clients or in conversations with our ICs or even joking around with each other, I'm amazed at the knowledge and respect that each of our team member has for others.

The thing that really stands out?  They listen to the other side of the conversation before responding.  That is a breath of fresh air in the world of business, let me tell you.

So know that when you work with someone at City Wide, they will not only have your best interest at heart, their ears will be open to your needs.

PhotobucketLastly, I'm truly excited!  I watched my first hockey game (US vs Norway), and I have US vs Canada coming up this Sunday.  I can finally see what is the cause of all the excitement in the office!

Now, if only I could figure out the idea behind curling...
