Week in Review: March 21st - 25th

Mitch - Quality Control Manager:
Another busy week out here in the south metro. We are starting 2 new accounts next week! One of them is in Cottage Grove and I will be kicking that off on Sunday with the crew. It is a nice facility that requires a machine scrubber on site and a power washer for the rest room showers to get them properly cleaned. Myself and 4 cleaners will get it off to a great start for the new client and help them out with other services including a strip and wax that will be done in the next couple weeks.

Also on Monday evening we will be starting a smaller office building for a property manager that we have had a great relationship with on some outside extra projects, and now will be doing some regular services with them. Earlier this week we kicked the account off a little early by putting down some wax in a server room, sealing the grout throughout the facility, and Scotch guard coating the carpet in their private offices to prevent staining.

All hands are on deck for the large new account that was awarded to us a short couple of weeks ago. Tyler and Greg have put in major efforts to get the crews lined up, and with some help from myself and night managers have helped get some other pieces of the puzzle put together for them to have a very successful start next week Friday. I am very excited to see City Wide move to the next level here in Minnesota, in addition to the contractors who have grow their business by double or triple the size in some cases since partnering with us!

Next month is a busy one, I’m sure many of my posts will reflect wax work and carpet cleaning for some of our group customers with built in 2x per year extra work. We will be waxing 4 medical facilities of exam rooms that totals approximately 250 exam rooms, 15 procedure rooms and other various areas with tile in break rooms, entry ways etc. Following weeks and weekends will get the entire carpets cleaned throughout all traffic and office areas. It’s a great way to kick off some spring cleaning and get the facilities looking great.

This weekend should be a nice one, spent mostly inside getting things done around the house. Last weekend was a lot of fun-- we spent Saturday night out celebrating Liz’s birthday with 8 or 9 of our friends. It was a surprise for Liz; she thought just a couple people were coming out so when we got to dinner and there were 10 people hiding behind menus she was quite excited. As I often proclaim, I love southern food and the Bulldog in NE Minneapolis serves Fried Chicken and Waffles so I didn’t dare pass trying that out for the first time and it was incredible! We had a great evening all in all.

Tyler - Quality Control Manager:
Wow what a week! Our snow removal teams are out in full force with this recent blizzard we’ve had. Just when we think it’s finally spring, Minnesota throws us another curveball. I saw about 10 cars in the ditch while driving around earlier this week. Just crazy!

Hurry! And schedule your strip and wax projects. Our calendar is filling up quick here in the north with all types of hard floor care. Whether it is VCT, tile, concrete, terrazzo, laminate-- we do it all. We also provide lawn care services of all types; landscaping, mowing, trimming, irrigation, fertilization. Let’s not forget about all other spring projects such as window cleaning, parking lot sweeping and much more. Just ask for a bid!

We’re getting excited to start cleaning a new gigantic customer up in Anoka in a couple weeks. It should test our ability to handle a 24/7/365 staff with multiple levels of management. We will have 3 different groups working at this account and will be broken up into many different shifts. I’m looking forward to working with my direct contacts and showing them what City Wide can do for their facility services.

I’m excited for the Twins season to start up. We had such a great time last year going to Target Field and watching the games outdoors. Now that the trees are gone in center field perhaps we’ll see some more homeruns ;-) I think we should have a pretty good team this year. If we can steer clear of any major injuries, I think the longevity of the team should take us through the playoffs and be able to make a run at the World Series. Not the case for the Wild however. What a tough couple weeks we’ve had. A 7 game losing streak while trying to back our way into the playoffs is a big problem. Hopefully they can turn it around and find a miracle playoff run.

Week In Review: March 7th - 11th

Greg - President:
This has been a great week for City Wide!! I got the news on Tuesday that we have been awarded a substantial new account. It is a 750,000 square foot manufacturing account that starts April 1st. We're so excited to start the account and show them what City Wide can do.

Because of the new account, we've started the hunt for a new operations manager who would work four days a week. We're looking for a qualified, enthusiastic, and responsible hire to join our team. We have hope that we'll find the perfect candidate!

In the mean time we've been working on a few other building maintenance projects. Earlier this week we oversaw a thermal fogging project for a property management company. The old tenant used to work with fertilizers and the odor lingered on no matter what the property manager tried or did. I was on-site video tapping the process-- video to some soon!

On the office front, we finalized a Spring Clean marketing project this week as well. We mailed out 1,200 brochures and fliers regarding spring cleaning and how City Wide can help you with any building maintenance need.

Personally, I spent the weekend up at Lake of the Woods with Kelly. We had a really fun time ice fishing. We caught our limit (enough for dinner too) of sauger each day and a few walleye-- including the biggest of the weekend, Kelly caught a 20-incher.

March Madness is upon us once again... and once again my nerves are starting to get rattled. We are die-hard Kansas Jayhawk fans and we're hoping to see them go far in the tournament this year! Let's hope!

Mitch - Quality Control Manager:
I'm back from vacation with much to accomplish. We received a short notice for new start event on Tuesday which was my first day back and were able to get it all set and started successfully in Edina. Everyone likes the new venue-- it is a kitchen school and retail shop. The kitchens are beautiful and we all envy the products that they sell-- sure wish we could put it in our own homes! I'm very excited to be part of the venue and help improve their cleanliness and other maintenance needs!

BIG congrats to all involved in the sale of a very large manufacturing account in the north metro! We are very excited to get going and help out from the south to make sure it all gets off to a great start.

My vacation to Arizona was a great time away. I enjoyed the warmth but I’m glad to be back in the great state of Minnesota even though I’m ready for winter to come to an end. This upcoming weekend is filled with house projects, boat projects, and birthdays for a number of my inlaws-- Should be entertaining!

Kelly - Business Development:
Other than getting the news that we we've been awarded the large manufacturing account mentioned above by Greg and Mitch, I was quite happy to hear that the projected 16 inches of snow headed our way DID NOT infact, head our way this week :-) I'm ready for the snow to melt and for spring to move in full force.

My week consisted of office meetings, new start walk-thrus, and putting together multiple proposals for the team. I've been very busy with proposals of any spring clean type nature this week, and know that it will only continue to get busier and busier!

On Monday, Greg and I arrived back to the work week after ice fishing up at Lake of the Woods. Greg beat me at number of caught fish, but I caught the biggest fish of the weekend-- a 20 incher.

This weekend you will find me watching college basketball. KU plays tonight and hopefully tomorrow night for the Big 12 Championship Tournament. And then of course Selection Sunday is this weekend as well. ROCK CHALK!

Don't forget to spring your clocks forward this weekend as well!!

New Start Hard Floor Clean-Up Demonstration

When City Wide starts a new account, we don't just set the crews free. Your Quality Control Manager, Night Manager, and crew manager work alongside the crew to start the account off on the right (clean!) foot.

This doesn't just mean helping out with the normal scope of work such as emptying trash and vacuuming floors. Our staff is there on hand to help with any above-and-beyond tasks such as high dusting, baseboard cleaning, furniture dusting/polishing, edge vacuuming, and/or detailing bathrooms (etc).

In our newest video, you can watch Mitch, Quality Control Manager help out with a hard floor clean-up of a heavily used and soiled restroom. Check it out!

Week in Review: February 28th - March 4th

Tyler - Quality Control Manager:

Spring is just around the corner!! (Let’s hope, at least!) That means filthy floors, filthy carpets, filthy windows and filthy parking lots. We provide a number of services such as stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning and parking lot sweeping. We do it all! Please contact City Wide for a quote!

Ice dam removal and emergency service have been among the many services we have provided lately. Specifically, a customer in Champlin had a serious water leak a few weeks ago when the weather was in the 50’s. All the snow from their roof had melted but wasn’t able to anywhere as their pipes were frozen below ground. We were able to remove the icy build-up and ultimately restore drainage so their roof could properly drain. Unfortunately, the problem wasn’t caught in time and the entire space had flooded. We had emergency carpet cleaners with air mover and dehumidifies on-site within an hour. A testament to how quick we can respond to most emergencies.

I will be welcoming in a new member to my family! A cocker spaniel puppy will arrive next Friday! I’ve had him picked out when he was just a few days old from a breeder in Hastings. I’ve named him Cooper! Cooper needs to be 7 weeks old before he can come to his new home. I’m very excited to raise Cooper and have him along to my races every weekend this summer. And with our cabin in Pine City, he will get plenty of opportunity to become quite the outdoorsman.

What’s new on the Sports front? Will there be a NFL season next year?! Will the Wild make it to the playoffs? Let’s hope so! It seems the NFL CBA is dragging and dragging. I believe they need to come to a consensus sometime later this evening. Why can’t millionaires and billionaires come to a conclusion on how rich they really need to be? Anyways, enough complaints for one day, until next time...

Kelly - Business Development:

Just like Tyler mentioned, let's hope that spring is around the corner! It's finally March and I know that Minnesota has had just a few gruesome March months... but I'm ready for the spring thaw, lots of sunshine, birds chirping, and grass growing.

Along with the spring season comes spring clean-up projects. I have been pretty busy this week with measuring and bidding a handful of parking lot maintenance projects for current and prospective clients. We plan on taking on many, many more spring clean-up projects in the next few months. Parking lot sweeping, striping, window washing, carpet cleaning, hard floor care-- we can do it all!

Yesterday we had quite the suprise here at City Wide-- our Director of Operations, Joe drove in from Kansas City to help Greg prepare for a large presentation, and ended up bringing our Vice President, Tom with him as well! It was very nice to spend time with Joe and Tom while they were here.

As for this weekend, Greg and I are going to get out of town for a few days and do some last-minute ice fishing up at Lake of the Woods. Let's hope for good weather, a safe drive, and lots of fish biting on our lines! :-)

Shalee - Administration Manager
What a crazy busy week we've had here!  The new look is rolling into the office with new proposals, new stationary, new envelopes and even new giveaways like our "We Stick To Our Promises" sticky notes and the City Wide Maintenance breath mints!  Everyone is tickled pink about the newness of it all!

We have been gearing up for some wonderful new potential clients.  Oh my lands!  The team has been rockin' the PowerPoints and FedEx has been quite busy with our needs.  We're enjoying the idea of truly assisting some large prospects who really need our help.  I was able to attend one of the proposals for a new client and man oh man... Could we be of service to them!  It's amazing how much dirt goes unnoticed until someone points it out.  We're praying that we are given this opportunity to help a company take care of their employees.

This weekend, we're hitting FMSC with the teens from our church and after that, having a meal to relax and get to know each other further.  Saturday and Sunday are (thankfully!) not as busy - just lots of laundry and a chance to unite with our church family on Sunday morning.  Oh, and we're going to introduce our kids to a classic - Jurassic Park.  I can't wait to see how they handle a clean scarefest as such!  (We're such mean parents.)  :)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Window Washing Demonstration

Now that spring is almost  upon us, it is time to start thinking about your exterior building maintenance. After your windows have been weathered by snow, sleet, winds, sun, rain, salt (etc) all season long, window washing is a great way to not only improve the appearance of your building but an easy way to invest in your windows.

Our newest video shot by Mitch shows you how City Wide can aid in any window washing project-- small or large!
