Week in Review: May 30th - June 3rd

Greg Mansfield - President:
This short week sure was a busy one! First off I’d like to offer a small thank you to our past and present troops as well as their families for sacrificing so much for our nation. I hope that you all had a relaxing and wonderful Memorial Day this week—while also taking time to reflect and appreciate those who have done so much.

The South Metro team started up a new 300,000 square foot production plant that has been going well so far this week! It is a large facility, so we all pitched in—Mitch, Eric, Steve, Jarrad, and myself with the crew, putting forth the best effort with the hopes of starting the account on the right foot! We had a fun time using a Hillyard C-3 Machine on this client’s restrooms. It is quite the machine, offering an easy, impeccable, and thorough cleaning of hard-to-clean or heavily soiled areas.

This week Mitch, Jarrad, Kelly, and I met with our contact at a large technical college here in town. We start this account in a few weeks, and our process is to walk through the account with the client before starting the actual cleaning. Kelly takes notes while we all ask pertinent questions and discuss the ins and outs of the account. This walk through was particularly interesting! It is very large, extremely impressive, and we can’t wait to get started!!

June is finally upon us… and so is summer it seems. On a personal front, we’ve hit fishing pretty hard lately. I’m in two different fishing leagues (that start next week) and we visited Lake of the Woods over this past Memorial Day Weekend. The fish weren’t jumping in the boat like past trips to LOTW, but we still caught close to our limit, had fish fries each night, and came back with some great walleye fillets to enjoy soon! This weekend I plan to fish Mile Lacs with Kelly and to enjoy some golf on Sunday—love this summer weather!

Mitch Brunette - Facility Service Manager:
This short week was nice but a lot of work was squeezed in!

We kicked off a new start on the 1st at a building in St Paul. It’s a fun property to be a part of and we have gotten a lot of initial extra cleaning done for them over the first couple of cleans.

We also took over another apartment complex in Bloomington for turn cleanings and have completed 2 so far for them.

One of our recently new clients added on a large amount of labor to their scope of work out in their warehouse on Wednesday as well. Jarrad, Greg, Eric, Steve and myself were all on site helping kick it off and get things going! It was an eventful first night of plugged floor drains and backed up urinals but we got through it all getting creative! :-) A great first kick off for that group! Thanks to everyone for their hard work on this account!

As far as extra services go, this week we have had some window washing going on at one of our low rise properties, and over the weekend the exterior will be complete as well. This week we also did some area carpet clean for one of our clients that has a very important client of their’s visiting their site. We were able to clean up some key areas for them to make sure that it is fully presentable come Monday morning.
This weekend we also will be completing approximately 100 man hours of warehouse high dusting from a 30 foot scissor lift! This is a project I’ve mentioned before—we completed 200 man hours last month and are finishing another 200 this month to wrap up the project and move on to whatever is next for the client!

Busy weekend here in the Brunette house hold—two of my best friends are getting married Friday night and the wedding should be a fantastic night. I have what I believe to be the final piece of the puzzle to get my project boat up and running. I plan to get to work on that Saturday morning and possibly make it on the lake in the afternoon or evening—you never know with boats. Wish me luck!

Tyler DuBord - Facility Service Manager:
It’s been awhile since I’ve found time to post but I’m finally glad I can!

It’s been a GREAT couple months for City Wide up in the north as I’ve been in charge of starting a gigantic factory in the Anoka area. Since we’ve started, a lot has taken place. We’ve finally settled in and have been on a good routine the past few weeks. This account requires three individual service providers which has been a huge undertaking and has never been seen before here in Minnesota. Let that be a testament to the size of this account! The folks here have been great to work with and I look forward to forming a great relationship with this client. A special thanks to everyone involved in getting this account up and running!

Since my last post, we converted 100% to using supplies from Hillyard. Our representative, Jim has been such a tremendous help with providing second-to-none help out in the field with demonstrations, product installations, chemical inquiries, service provider set-up, etc. We’re very fortunate to have a company like Hillyard and a rep like Jim to partner with City Wide and provide such great support to our customer base. Thanks again Jim!

Welcome Jarrad to the City Wide team! It sounds like Jarrad will be helping to relieve Mitch and I from several accounts in the west metro area. It has been great to work with Jarrad over the past couple weeks and look forward to a great relationship. If any readers will be working directly with Jarrad to service your building, I think you’re in good hands. He already has a good grasp on our business model and how to help keep your facility looking clean and presentable. Again, welcome Jarrad!!

We’ve also welcomed Steve Reid to our night management team. I’ve been working with Steve now for a couple months and it has been such a pleasure to rely on such good talent to manage our night staff, not only at our new large client in Anoka, but the rest of the accounts he’s been assigned to. Steve will help relieve Mark from several buildings and will be able to take on new customers in the west metro as they become available. Welcome Steve and keep up the great work!!

It’s already been another fun summer so far with Motocross racing. I’ve also upgraded to a larger tent and a new grill for camping overnight at the races. Last year I couldn’t stand up in the tent and always tore my back apart trying to get dressed—the new spacious tent is going to be great! We also now have a new puppy and he loves having the extra room to run around. Hopefully the remainder of the year proves to be a good one with racing!

Kelly Mansfield - Business Development:
I can't believe it is already Friday! It seems like it was just Tuesday, I was getting back from Memorial Day Weekend, and starting the week! You certainly won't find me complaining that it's the weekend already though ;-)

As always, it has been a busy week here at City Wide. On Thursday I met up with Greg, Mitch, and Jarrad to walk the facility of a new client, a large technical college here in the Twin Cities. It sure was a cool facility!! As we walked through, chatted about their needs, learned about the ins and outs of the account, and I took notes, I couldn't help but daydream a bit about going back to school! Something about seeing students' ambitious attitudes and the hands on learning made me want to grab my backpack and crack open a school book! Needless to say, we're all excited about making a difference in the cleaning of this facility!

On a personal front, my younger sister leaves for Florence, Italy today. She is studying abroad all summer long. I am insanely jealous, but excited for her. I just can't wait to get her on the computer and skype face to face all the way from Minnesota to Italy!

As Greg wrote above, we have dove right into the season of fishing here in our household. We fished last weekend... We're fishing this weekend. It seems to never stop! ;-) I sure do like reeling in a large walleye though-- never gets old!
