Tips & Tricks: Preventative Carpet Care

The key to effective, cost-efficient floor care is preventative maintenance. City Wide recommends a long-term care plan for all the floors in your facility. Keep in mind that natural and specialty floors may require more specialized care.

Here are some quick tips on how to get the most life out of your carpeting.
Vacuum regularly: Frequent vacuuming essential to keeping carpet protected, but also to reducing the dirt level in your building. Vacuum frequently, and vacuum high-traffic areas daily.
Matting: Most dirt is brought into buildings on our feet. Entryway matting captures dirt as it is walked in. Put mats at every entryway, and vacuum them frequently if not daily.
Shampooing: Did you know that dirt particles left deep into carpeting can significantly reduce carpet life? Periodic shampooing lifts dirt particles that vacuums can’t reach. To maximize the life of your carpets, have carpeted areas shampooed every 3-6 months.
Remember, daily vacuuming is essential to extending carpet life, and commercial matting programs are an inexpensive way to extend carpet life and keep dirt out of your buildings!
