Week in Review: February 24th - 28th

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Service Manager

Hello from the West Metro! Can it be any colder outside lately??

There has not been a ton going on as of late in my region of the Twin Cities. Outside of the normal nightly services, things have been a little bit slow this month.  I know Tyler and Kirsten have been busy with their snow removal services but unfortunately I don’t have any this year!

This past month, I have had a couple of new customers come on board which is always nice!  It is always fun to see how much an impact we can make between start date and just a few days/weeks. I have done a few carpet cleaning jobs and viper grout cleaning jobs this month as well.

I will be in Jasper, Alabama for the first week of March for my second Bassmaster Southern Open Tournament.  I'm hoping to take a Top 40 finish to keep me in the points race and cash a check.  I did relatively well in my first tournament on Lake Toho in Orlando, Florida finishing in 27th place. Wish me luck!

Week In Review: February 17th - 21st

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

In the last few months, things have been very busy.  To start the year off in the sales department, we had a number of new accounts that decided City Wide was the service provider for them.  I have spent a good amount of my time making sure that they started up well and are taken care of.

Mitch Brunette (DOO), Greg Mansfield (President), Brian Mansfield (Business Analyst) and I are getting ready to head to Florida for City Wide's Annual Convention.  Although we will be in the warm weather (hopefully) it will mostly be business.  We will be learning new things and hopefully teaching some things in order to make sure that City Wide continues to be the best service provider in our markets.

Outside of work, I have been doing a ton of cross country skiing.  I've been spending 20+ hours per week training for the racing season.  I have had some good success this year in races with a number of Top 10 finishes, as well as a Top 15 at the Vasaloppet, which is a 58 kilometer (36mile) race in Mora, Minnesota.  All of this is in preparation for my main focus of the season which is the Great American Birkibeiner.  This race is the largest ski race in North America with over 10,000 people participating.  My goal is to make it into the Elite Skier wave next year, which is based on the finish place this year.

Talk to you again soon!

Week In Review: February 10th - 14th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Service Manager

Brrrrr, it’s been a tough winter in Minnesota! With the frigid temperatures and large amounts of snowfall, our crews are still out cleaning buildings and handling several projects. Personally, I am a big snowmobiler and like the large amounts of snow. However, I do not appreciate the cold temperatures. Our snow removal teams are thrilled with the snow levels as we plow several accounts across the metro. So far our teams have done a great job helping our customers provide a clean and safe environment by keeping their parking lots and sidewalks clear and salted. If you are in need of a snow contractor change, please contact City Wide for a competitive bid. Stay warm out there!

I am hopeful that spring and warm weather is on the way soon. With that comes spring maintenance projects for our customers. From strip and waxing to carpet cleaning to parking lot maintenance, we do it all. Spring is a very busy time of year for our teams who are constantly bidding out window cleaning, landscape projects, lot sweeping, etc. We are excited for the business!

Recently, our Operations Team has planned a team-building golfing event coming up soon. Yes, a golfing event here in the winter at a simulator in Coon Rapids. I love golf and have played at this simulator several times throughout the past few winters. It will be fun to get together, put work aside, and have a great time together. Hopefully we stay on the fairway and greens!

Week In Review: February 3rd - 7th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Service Manager

I can’t believe the first month of 2014 has already come to an end. If this year is anything like 2013, it is going to fly by. The south metro has been extremely busy with all of the snow that we have been getting. I am currently managing three locations for snow removal. Being able to help my customers out with more than just janitorial work is great. When I first started with City Wide, my goal was to be a single point of contact for ALL needs-- which I am start to be with a lot of my customers! My goal for the New Year is to be this for ALL of my customers.

This week we started a new account in Eagan. This account is a large facility with a lot of cubicle area. For the first couple of nights, we have been focusing on the high and low dusting along with getting a lot of the detail work done for the customer. We have made a lot of good changes to the building and are ecstatic to keep moving forward with this account!

On a personal front, I have a trip to Chicago to see one of my best friends coming up. It is going to be a lot of fun and I am extremely excited to see her. We will be celebrating a couple of birthdays while we are out there as well as just catching up on old times.
