Week In Review: March 10th - 14th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Service Manager

February marked a record year for coldest temps and snowfall. We’ve stayed busy helping customers manage their snow removal as well as preventative maintenance measures such as carpet cleaning and floor waxing. Spring is typically our busiest season for this work. Customers consider these projects as “Spring cleaning” projects and they help to remove salt build up from the winter months. We use truck mounted carpet extractors for our cleaning and we find this process produces the best results. Floor waxing is also considered a Spring project. VCT tile floors have wax covering the tile surface to protect the tile and to provide a long lasting shine. Throughout winter, this wax is eaten away by the breakdown of salt. Regular floor maintenance is key in providing a long lasting protection and shine for your tile.
With all the snow this past winter I’ve enjoyed several weekends of snowmobiling up north. Some of the best trails are located in northern Minnesota. I am also able to ride right out of my garage as there is a trail just a couple blocks away. I typically ride from my house up to our cabin in Pine City. There are several stops along the way to warm up and get a drink or bite to eat. I enjoy the heavy snow falls to provide excellent snowmobiling conditions but when the temperature drops past 10 degrees and below zero, I tend to stay away from the trails. This winter provided several days below zero making it difficult to get out. I can only consider the warm temperatures of Spring and Summer where golf takes over!
