Week in Review: June 16th - 20th

Mitch Brunette: Director of Operations

It has been a crazy start to spring/summer here in the metro!  We’ve been managing an incredible amount of carpet cleaning, tile acid cleaning, floor waxing, window washing and pressure washing projects in the last 60 days!

We always have these projects ready to go in the spring time and crews lined up ready to accomplish the body of work. However, the weather has really thrown off any plans we have made in advance! We have a large group project that traditionally is done early in the year that got pushed off due to the weather. So, we quickly tried to change gears with other clients to see if they’d prefer to move up in the schedule to help balance that time.  Before we knew it, April and May had evaporated and we had accomplished a large body of work in a short period of time.

With rainfall continuing to come in daily groups, we have continued to make adjustments and reschedule for exterior window cleaning.  We’ve found ourselves ahead of schedule on interiors, and catching up on exteriors on warm, sunny days to accomplish every job as close to their original scheduled time as possible.  Although the weather really plays a factor, we have to be cautious not to rush as a result of expected rain, so that we can ensure quality work is being completed.

Our FSM’s have been staying incredibly organized here, making sure that all labor is lined up in advance, job notes are detailed and organized prior to the work being done, and checking with their team-mates to avoid double booking any work.

In addition to all of that, we’ve been BETA Testing a new app based software for tracking all of our building inspection data and invoice entry system for in the field usage.  It has shown the ability to save an incredible amount of time and make organization even easier for our FSM’s in the field.  It has come with some challenges as any new software will, but it is well worth it.  The end result will mean more time in the field for our managers to meet with clients and check on projects, and less time in front of a computer.

Summer is a bit up and down for me outside of City Wide, as far as planning goes.  My wife and I  snuck up north wit some friends the weekend of Memorial day for a camping, which was a lot of fun! We made it back in town early to reset and relax before the upcoming short, 4 day work week!   Aside from that we have some lakeside plans on Minnetonka for the 4th of July and a couple weddings later in the year to look forward to!
