Week In Review: August 25th-29th

Mitch Brunette: Director of Operations

If there is such a thing as a happy ending to summer, I hope you are able to find it! Fall is rapidly approaching, the fair is here, allergies are in the air, and fall follow up facility work is coming soon.

Summer treated us well at City Wide!  We’ve started a good variety of new clients facilities, and continued to manage projects at our existing facilities ranging from carpet, VCT, window washing and Jarrad’s personal baby, a construction project and remodel!

Steve and our night management team Aaron, Tyler and Jose have been able to have some time off outside of the office for road trips, family vacations and staycations, all while supporting each other’s territories while others were out so that each of our facilities received the evening treatment they needed.

Tyler Olson mentioned the BBQ I hosted at my house and the game of PIG!  I didn’t encourage the mysterious disappearance of our new highly coveted office trophy, but I do enjoy watching the enthusiasm it has driven around creative hiding places, scavenger hunts and inter office friendly rivalry.

Finally, my wife and I have anxiously awaited our first BBQ Cooking Competition which we completed last weekend here in August!  We had great neighboring cooks that were veterans and very willing to give us help and feedback when needed.  We competed against 54 total teams, and finished 39th overall!  We took 17th place in Ribs and Liz took 11th place in dessert!  We really enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to returning to Albert Lead in August next year, but will also find a competition in May and June to try and learn and improve!

Week in Review: August 18th - 22nd

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi from the South Metro!

August has been a humid month so far but it has also been very eventful!  We have been doing a lot of window washing jobs and maintenance program work being done at our facilities. The maintenance programs have been very helpful with the planning and scheduling of projects for my customers and myself. Having a plan of when the work is being done has been very helpful for budgeting and preparation.

Today we are doing a large window washing job out in Lakeville. We have brought in a scissor lift to do all the sky lights in the building. It's a big but nothing that our window crew can't handle.

On a personal note, I just got back from Vegas with one of my best friends. We went out two weekends ago to celebrate my birthday! It was a ton of fun and I plan on going back very soon. We saw some shows, ate amazing food and enjoyed laying out at the pool.

Happy Friday all! Hope you have an amazing weekend.

Week In Review: August 8th - 11th

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

It's been a big couple of weeks for me.  To start with, I have been very busy in my personal life getting ready for the arrival of my baby girl.  My wife and I have been painting, putting furniture together, and working diligently to make sure that everything we need is ready for when she arrives.  It is our first child, and we could not be more excited to welcome her in the next few weeks.  Due Date is September 6th!

I recently took a trip out to Madison, WI to do some metabolic testing and coaching for the upcoming cross country ski season.  I will be representing City Wide on the snow this year, and have some large aspirations in the coming winter.  There are three big races that I plan to compete in (also many smaller local reaces), They are Noquemanon in Michigan, Vassaloppet in MN, and Birkibeiner in WI.

We recently had a group outing for City Wide at our Director of Operations, Mitch Brunette, house.  The food and the company were great.  Although the night culminated with a very competitive game of “PIG” on the basketball court.  The Winner, ME, went home with the “City Wide Cup”, a traveling trophy that can be won at any group competition or outing.  The win was highly contested and recently the trophy has mysteriously disappeared from my office and I won’t rest until it is returned.

We are ramping up for a busy fall at City Wide with the start of many new accounts, as well as the increase in hours at the schools that we clean.  Busy is good, I just hope to get it all up and running before the arrival of my little girl.

Week In Review: August 4th - 8th

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro,
I feel like a broken record at times reporting from this side of the city.  We continue to stay busy and overall it's been a really busy summer.  Lots of projects going on from, power washing, window cleaning, working on snow removal proposals and still working through my large construction remodel project which should be wrapping up the 3rd week in August.

Our sales team continues to seek out new clients and we are really happy to bring them on board.  We have several of them starting in August, so that will keep my team busy all month.

I have had a few personal victories with in the company this year which means a lot to me as I continue to grow and get better in my role.  I have to give a big shout out, to our entire office staff and team.  Believe it or not, but each person really had something to do with helping me achieve those goals.

Monday, the Vice President of the company called me and interviewed me for a live podcast he sent out to the entire company.  Needless to say, I was a bit nervous but glad to be a part of it.  Hopefully others can take the message and apply it to there daily routines to learn and get better.

I continue to tournament fish and just recently got back from Lake Champlain in upstate New York, finishing in 92nd place.  Not my best performance but look forward to the Detroit River.  Hope to catch-em there.

Week In Review: July 28th - August 1st

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Summer is upon us! We’ve been busy with several types of projects including parking lot maintenance, lawn care, carpet cleaning, etc. Summer is also a good time to begin talking about snow removal. As much as I dislike talking about cold and snow this early in the year, we’re better off getting bids out now and logistics handled prior to the snow flying! We all live in Minnesota where we know the weather can be more unpredictable than the Vikes scoring a touchdown.
Fortunately, I’ve been able to get the boat on the water and enjoy some of the nicer weather we’ve had this summer. Memorial weekend we brought it up to Lake Vermillion and had a blast. The weather was excellent and the boat ran great. As a bonus, we caught fish and cooked some nice walleye! Of course playing golf is one of my biggest enjoyments. I’ve played about 40 rounds already this year which started in Cozumel, Arizona, then a ton of rounds back here in MN. I am in a Tuesday night league where we’ve found ourselves in 2nd place ¾ the way through the season. Last year we made it to the Championship round but to fall to a good team. That was our first year in the league so we’re looking to bounce back strong again this year.
