Week In Review: Dec 29th - Jan 2nd

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro:

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and happy new year!

Once again, I am very busy!  This seems to be the trend for all, here at City Wide.  There has been a great variety of things going on each and every day.  I don't foresee that changing in 2015 either.  The first week in January we have several facilities starting in my area!  I believe the same thing goes for Tyler and Kirsten.  Our sales team does a marvelous job at bringing on new business!
In addition to the new accounts, I also have a large vacancy clean coming up in Shakopee.  This is a larger scale office space with a 100,000 sq ft warehouse.  We will be detail cleaning the space, extracting all carpets, strip/wax of VCT floors, strip/seal of all ceramic tile floors in the restrooms, high dusting of duct work in the warehouse space and sweeping/auto scrubbing the floors.  Cool project to kick off the new year!

I would like to welcome our new night managers, April and Vanessa!  April will be working with me as well as the new FSM, Alex, in the North West territory.  Vanessa is working with Tyler in the North East territory.  Glad to see our nightly operations team growing!

My weekends moving forward will consist of organizing my fishing tackle, restringing fishing poles, and planning for this year's upcoming fishing tournaments.  All the planning and preparation takes a lot of time.  My first event is March 12-14th on Ross Barnett Reservoir in Ridgeland, Mississippi!

Week In Review: Dec 22nd - 26th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

This hit or miss weather has winter off to a very unique start, typical for Minnesota!  Our snow removal began quickly and then came to an abrupt halt with the recent warmer temps.  There have been a handful of evenings that melted snow has frozen overnight and required some attention, but for the most part, the truck/salt/shovel crews have had a light start to the season.

We have had a busy few months and January will continue to carry that trend!  We are bringing on a significant group of new accounts on the first of the year, which will require all hands on deck from everyone on our team! We will need to ensure that we are giving them the help and attention needed, to get off the ground quickly.

Speaking of our team, I am very excited to have 2 new Night Managers with us, as well as an FSM that is starting next week!  April is our new night manager for the NW Metro and is off to a great start in her first few weeks.  She is now ready to start taking over the territory.  Vanessa is our new NE Metro night manager and she is off to the races there, as well.  Vanessa is beginning to fully take over the route, as Jose becomes more of an additional help/flex person for us.  Alex will be our new NW FSM, who will be joining us on Monday.  He is very excited for the opportunity to give that route the attention it needs and to be able to grow long-term.

It has been a busy season for myself, inside and out of the office.  In the blink of an eye, Christmas is here!  Fortunately for my wife and I, we don’t have a ton of shopping to do, so we can focus on getting the house in order and getting to our destinations for Christmas.  Aside from all of that, I went ice fishing with Aaron Bowen a couple weeks ago.  We caught a bunch of sunfish and one large mouth!  Happy Holidays everyone!

Week In Review: Dec 15th - 19th

Andrew Chapman: Sales Associate

Once again, I start by saying how busy everyone is at City Wide.  We typically have our hands full with the season’s changes and new accounts coming on, but right now has to be the busiest we’ve ever been.  The winter weather (and SALT) always brings a lot of changes to our buildings. Our FSM team does a great job at making sure those changes are managed properly, so our customers don’t have to worry about it.
Outside of our constant fight with Minnesota winters, we have a record amount of new accounts starting on January 1st.  This is exciting for everyone involved, but also demands a lot of additional attention, to guarantee all of our new customers have a seamless transition.  Customers from a variety of industries have decided to choose City Wide going into 2015, from Banks to Medical Clinics to Retail Centers.
Even with all the additional work we’ve had this December, the Sales Team was still able to find time to have fun.  Tyler Olson and myself went to Dave and Busters after a long day of work, which really brought that inner child out of both of us (as you can see).  We may have gotten a little too competitive over the games, but when we walked out of there with a big teddy bear for Tyler's daughter, I think everyone was a winner!  Happy Holidays!

Week In Review: Dec 8th - 12th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi from South Metro,

Over the past month, we have been super busy at City Wide! In the winter months, we have to take a different approach to cleaning our facilities. The traditional neutral floor cleaners, typically used to clean hard floors, are ineffective this time of year! To combat that, our crews gear up with a chemical that has a specific PH, which breaks down and neutralizes salt.  This is very effective at keeping our customers' floors clean.

Last week, all of us FSM's went out to play virtual golf at Bunker Hills. It was a scramble; Mitch and Tyler vs Jarrad and myself. Surprisingly, Jarrad and I were not the best scramble team but we sure did have a blast! Next year, I know we will take them!!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday month and are able to enjoy some time with your families!!

Week In Review: Dec 1st - 5th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Brrrrr!! It’s been a cold start to winter in Minnesota! Unfortunately, I’ve already come down with a cold and have been under the weather for a few weeks, yuck! Hopefully this is it and I will be immune the rest of the season. I won’t get my hopes up though.

Our busy season has arrived and is in full force! We are currently providing a ton of carpet cleaning and wax work throughout the entire metro, getting floors cleaned and protected for the long winter ahead. We find that most customers choose to have their traffic area carpets cleaned during the fall and all carpet space cleaned in the Spring. This saves a bit on cost and focuses more on cleaning the heavier used and higher soiled areas. If you have not yet cleaned your carpets this fall/winter, please consider looking at a bid. Regular cleaning will prolong the life of the carpet.

As Mitch noted in a previous blog, we are currently searching for a few operations positions to help manage our growth. It’s an exciting time in our company history, to have the ability to add to our growing team and welcome on new challenges & opportunities for those passionate about the business.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season and stays warm!!
