Week In Review: Dec 21st - 25th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

As always, with the holiday season beginning in Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve less than 24 hours away, I find myself fascinated with how quickly it sweeps right past us!  It has been a great holiday season thus far!  We were able to get away for 5 days in California, spending time in San Francisco to visit Alcatraz, tour the warf, and have a private tour at a winery in Napa Valley.  It was a great trip! Then it was back to reality, getting projects done at the office, before wrapping up 2015.

Reflecting back on 2015, we’ve experienced a lot, helped a lot of new clients, and learned plenty about our organization through our growth.  I would like to thank our entire operations team, day & night, for the efforts they put in and the experience they provide their clients.  Thank you to the sales team, Tyler & Dustin, for keeping us busy and finding us new locations to manage.  Thank you to our admin team, whom supports operations and sales. Finally, thank you to our clients, for the business and ongoing support.  Have a safe end to the year as we wrap up with the holiday, and enjoy the upcoming snow this weekend!

Dustin Hayes: Sales Associate

Hello from the North side of the Metro!!!

I’m sure everyone is enjoying this odd weather. J It has been a whirlwind, getting the family ready for Christmas. My two boys are very, very excited for Santa to arrive, and my wife and I are doing our best to keep their minds off of it! Being the college football fanatics we are in our house, this time of year is spent very anxiously awaiting the big bowls...and we go through football withdrawal. At least we can get our fix from the Vikings playing (or backing) their way into/out of the playoffs.

It's been an amazing ride, since joining this team last month! Every day is a great learning experience. We have some unbelievable Facility Services Managers, that take great care of their clients. Another Facility Services Manager has also joined the team, which will only add to our level of service. With the snow looming (at some point) they can take great care of you, with snow removal or haul away.

Personally, I have enjoyed getting out and meeting potential clients throughout the metro. I’m excited to see what the turn of the year holds for us at City Wide.

Happy Holidays to everyone, and be safe on those slippery roads!

Week In Review: Nov 30th - Dec 4th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Greetings from the North Metro!

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday. My wife and I made the trek out to western MN, to spend time with her family, where we ate a lot of turkey, relaxed, and watched the Vikings beat the Falcons! It’s a 3 hour drive, but it's all worth it, while in good company and enjoying good food made from scratch by the family.

Monday morning, we woke up to 4+ inches of plowable snow, making this the first push for our snow removal crews. We have very competitive pricing, so if you had any issues with your current vendor during this first snowfall event, please inquire about a bid for your property. It can snow all it wants, as I love the snow and snowmobiling. Last season was pretty frustrating for me, with the lack of snow. I think I rode the sled maybe once or twice, making it a disappointing year in that regard.

Any regular readers out there will notice that Joel has been with us for several months now and has transitioned into his role with exceptional confidence. The great part of my job, is to help train and grow with new managers that come on board and take over part of my previously existing territory. It was great working alongside Joel for the first couple months, as we made the transition. I’ve been able to assist in getting him acclimated to those accounts that I’ve managed and established relationships with over the years. I have the upmost confidence in Joel and trust he will service our company well, as he move towards the next phase in his position with City Wide.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays safe out on the slick roads!

Week In Review: Nov 16th - 20th

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro,

Things have been relatively steady on this side of town.  I have been finalizing a few snow bids with customers reaching out to me this year.  The great part about it is, they are not new customers to City Wide, they are current customers who are reaching out for other services aside from janitorial.  These extra services keep us FSMs on our toes!

I also just wrapped up a large window job in the Woodbury area and I’m very thankful the weather held out for us.   We are still keeping busy with floor work/carpet cleaning and now is a great time to have this completed in your facilities, before the snow starts flying.

Now that the fishing season is over, I’m trying to figure out what to do with my time.  I wish I was a deer hunter, sounds like some of my customers and colleagues are having a blast with that this year.  I’ll be looking forward to the holidays to spend time with family and friends.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and please, travel safely.

Week In Review: Nov 9th - 13th

Joel Willert: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the Central Metro!

As I have been transitioning into my full customer base, I continue to learn more each day. There are roughly 45 accounts that I have fully taken over since I started. Learning the ins and outs of everything that goes into just one account is amazing. When City Wide starts an account, customers don't only get our janitorial services, but they also get a full maintenance schedule to keep their facility looking top notch, all year long.  City Wide strives to be the best, and we welcome the opportunity to provide a competitive quote for any service customers may need.

Nightly janitorial makes up the majority of our services, but we also offer many non-janitorial services as well. This week, I have been busy with a large construction clean, window washing, and different types of floor work. City Wide has had the luxury of fulfilling the needs of multiple services that extend outside of our nightly cleaning.

In my personal life, I have put the boat away for the season. Now, my focus is to spend time in the woods and head back home to Wisconsin for the hunting opener next weekend.  If the weather stays the way it has been, it should be a great weekend to sit in the tree stand.

As always, if there are any services that City Wide can offer, please let us know. We are always happy to provide a competitive quote.

Week In Review: Nov 2nd - 6th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Greeting from the Northwest Metro,

I hope everyone is enjoying the fall and that you're getting ready for the snow to start flying.  In the Northwest metro, we have been focused on wrapping up many exterior projects for customers and making sure they are prepared for the changing weather.

Many of my customers are also squeezing in a final window cleaning or sidewalk/alley pressure washing job, to remove all of summer's build up.

All of us FSMs are beginning to discuss a plan for organizing detail cleaning or special projects to be completed while our customers' offices are shut down around the holidays.  Holidays are a great time to allow us into the building to complete the large projects that have been put off, due to the fear of interrupting the work day.

Personally, I have been really busy this fall. Wedding season is almost over, which is leaving me some time to get the house ready for winter and squeeze in a couple waterfowl and upland bird hunting trips. We spend a lot of our open weekends out in the Western MN farm land.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the fall weather and as always, if there is anything our FSM team can do to help, please let us know.

Week In Review: Oct 26th - 30th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

As usual, we’ve been very busy handling fall cleaning for our clients, indoors and out!  I’ve been working closely with our Landscaping partners to complete our fall cleanups in several properties, and firming up snow contracts for several of last year’s clients that are signed back up, as well as some new lots.

I recently took a trip to our Tampa Bay office, to work on some annual planning with 4 of our other City Wide operations from across the nation.  As always, it is good to get together with offices to share best practices and new ideas. In turn, we work on implementing these ideas with our own team, in effort to to run more efficiently and have a positive impact for our clients.

I’m looking forward to winter, as I haven’t been able to get out with my bow yet for hunting.  Recently, I have kept busy roller-skiing and traveling with my wife for various events.  This summer we went to the West Coast, Iowa for a family reunion, Houston to visit family, and then Tampa for work.  In November, I’m heading to California for Thanksgiving, and then plan to stay put for a while and enjoy some ice fishing and time on my skiis.

Week In Review: Oct 19th - 23rd

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

It has been a fun last few weeks, here at City Wide.  For starters, our department heads all traveled to Tampa, Florida to meet with a handful of other high performing Cities within the City Wide Family.  We spent 3 days discussing successes and struggles that we deal with every day and how we can better our performance.  After we finished up these orders of business, three of us from the Minnesota Market, took a fishing charter out to try to catch some red fish.  Though we didn’t catch a ton of fish, we definitely had fun and saw a ton of cool Florida wildlife.

Beyond the recent travel, I recently hired a new Sales Associate, whom will be starting in Novemeber.  He comes from the same company that I did previously, and actually worked for me for a couple of years prior to my coming to City Wide.  I know he will help us to grow our business and create many new relationships within the market.

Looking forward to seeing what the fall brings us!

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi from the south metro!

These last couple of months have been flying by. It's hard to believe we are almost into the winter months.  In my territory, we have been focusing on preparing facility for the winter months. Getting snow bids out to customer that are interested, doing a final window clean to remove all summer/fall construction dust, and many other projects to get the facility up and ready.  If you haven't already received a proposal for us to remove snow from your facility, please reach out to your FSM.

Personally, I've been busy with family events, traveling to see friends and enjoying some down time at home, reading.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Week In Review: Oct 5th - 10th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Greetings from the Northeast Metro!! Fall is here, or fast approaching anyway! As we look forward to the color alteration of tree leaves, the cooler temps, or even Halloween, we ask that our customers consider performing preventative maintenance projects in the Fall. These type of projects include: carpet cleaning, exterior window cleaning, tile waxing or grout cleaning, even snow removal options, all in preparation for the winter months forthcoming. I know the entire FSM team is willing and prepared to provide competitive pricing options for whatever project you are considering. Whatever the project, we’ve got you covered!

For me, I love the changing colors and the cooler temps, allowing for the perfect round of fall golf. I’ve found myself already playing several rounds over the last couple weeks across the state, all while capturing the beautiful surroundings that fall provides, here in Minnesota. Hunting season is also right around the corner. Bow season has already begun, and I anticipate making a trip up to Red Lake to scout for trails and hopefully spend some time in the stand.

Hope everyone has a safe and joyful fall season!

Week in Review: Sept 28th - Oct 2nd

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro.

I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather we are having.  This, is by far my favorite time of the year....jeans, a long sleeve shirt, football and chili.

Things have been going pretty good on this side of the city.  We are working through a lot of fall carpet cleaning along with scrubbing and re-coating hard surface floors.  It's a busy time of the year for these services.  Don't forget, snow is also right around the corner.  So, if you haven't received pricing for snow removal, please reach out to your FSM.

On Wednesday, our entire company did something really cool!  We volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Brush of Kindness folks, to paint an old Victorian home in St. Paul.  What a cool experience! I'm shocked by how much of the work we were able to complete as a group!  I hope we continue to do something like this each year.

My tournament fishing is done and over with for the year.  The rest of my fall time will be spent catching up on Lana's "honey-do" list around the house.

Week In Review: Sept 21st - 25th

Joel Willert: Facility Services Manager

I hope everyone is enjoying the last bit of warm weather before the snow starts to fly.

As the newest FSM at City Wide Maintenance of Minnesota, I have been meeting many new people and seeing a lot of different accounts during the transition into my territory.  I am looking forward to building great relationships and helping with everyone’s building maintenance needs.

I have had the opportunity to get carpet cleaning and window washing completed for multiple clients.  Now is a great time to get your facility prepped for the upcoming season, whether it be floor work, window washing, carpet care, lawn maintenance or looking for snow removal bids; we can help with it all.

On a more personal note, I've been trying to get out on the boat, fishing as much as possible before the lakes turn to ice.  I have also been working on multiple projects around the house, to be completed before winter arrives. Hopefully, I will find some time to spend in the woods and do a little hunting in the upcoming weeks as well.

Week In Review: Sept 14th - 18th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Happy Fall Everyone,

I hope that summer has treated you well and that you were able to enjoy some time with family. I was able to make a few trips up to the Brainerd lakes to take the boat out and try to catch some fish.

Now that fall is upon us, I am enjoying some extra time on the weekends, as all the weddings are over. I had a total of 6 weddings this spring and summer, so I am excited to catch up on some projects around the house. I am also looking forward to hunting season starting, which will quickly begin to consume my weekends once again.

At City Wide, we are also getting very busy, prepping all our facilities for fall and winter. Weather it be getting the windows cleaned up or getting lawn and landscape ready for winter, there are plenty of services we can assist with. We have also been actively talking with customers about their snow removal needs for this winter and lawn care needs for next spring and summer.

My biggest project lately, was helping one of my facilities get prepared for a large customer and supplier show coming up. They are expecting to have 8,000 guests pass through their doors over a 4 day period, so I have been staffing extra day time staff to help monitor and keep the facility looking great.  Our goal is to help them put their best foot forward with their new customers.

I hope everyone enjoys the fall colors, Halloween, and the coming snow.

Week In Review: Sept 7th - 11th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

It seems like each time I have the blog post opportunity, I’m entrusted with the need to welcome you into the next season!  The fair is over, humidity is down, fall rains are in effect, and mornings are cool and foggy.  Welcome to Fall everyone, and I hope you had a fun and safe summer!

Here in the office, we’ve recently brought on Joel Willert, our newest FSM to the City Wide team and he is off to a great start!  Joel has been very focused on learning our specific industry, processes, and of course, his clients and their facilities.  He’s had the opportunity to work closely with our FSM team during their routes to the buildings he’ll be taking over.  Additionally, he has periodically toured around town with me , covering for an FSM on vacation or just helping them out on a busy week of visits.  We look forward to seeing Joel take full ownership of his route soon, and grow with the company.

We’ve been wrapping up summer with all kinds of projects and bringing on new business!  One of my favorite projects was a very nice Apartment Complex, that was built in the metro area.  We were able to help do the final cleanup of the entire complex, from top to bottom.  We had interior crews cleaning the individual units, inside windows, installing screens, cleaning carpets following minor construction mishaps, and circling back through the units touching them back up after various small touchup repairs were made.  On the exterior side of the building, we had a 70’ Boom lift ordered and a crew safely setup to remove all window plastic, stickers, construction debris, loose paint, and final clean the windows, so they look great for the new tenants!  In the garage, we have our excellent pressure washing team brining in a truck this week to handle the final garage cleaning.  We did an initial prep cleanup in order for the stripers to paint new lines and stall numbers, now we need to do a final cleanup, so it is prepped and looking good for residents.

Aside from all of that, I spent a lot of time the last couple weeks helping one of our clients get ready for a big visit from their corporate office.  As always, we like to keep our facilities show-ready, however, a little extra TLC can go a long way!  We helped align additional labor to be present during the visit, in order to make sure anything that came up could be handled quickly.  We were also able to mobilize some wax crews, to do some scrub and recoat work, and buffing and polishing of other floors for a great presentation.

Outside of the office, I’ve had a typical Minnesotan’s summer!  Fishing, outdoor jogging and roller skiing, and of course, weddings.  My wife, a few friends, and myself headed up to Cloquet to camp at my favorite camping spot that I’ve been a patron at for nearly my entire life.  We had a great weekend out on the lake- building fires, making s'mores, and enjoying great company.  We didn’t get any chances to get out hiking like we usually do, but hope to get up there one more time during the fall.

Week In Review: Aug 31st - Sep 4th

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

I have had a very busy last month.  I bought a new house, did some renovations to the house, and have been planning my daughter's first birthday.  It's also been a pretty busy month in the sales department.  We haven't had a large number of new accounts, but the new accounts that we have started, have been larger scale cleans.  Recently, we started a new type of account for us, a Synagogue.  We are conducting all their cleaning and day porting 7 days per week.  There have been many other churches that we have cleaned, but never a synagogue.  So far, we are really enjoying the relationship with them.

As I mentioned above, I recently bought a house in Apple Valley.  I took about a week off of work and did some renovations to our new house.  We painted/replaced all the trim, changing it from oak to white, painted the kitchen cupboards, and painted most of the rooms in the house.  We are now moved in, and working to get all the furniture we need to fill the house.  Our previous house was smaller, so we have some things to get still.  It's nice to live in a great neighborhood that is also only 6 minutes from the office.

Lastly, my Daughter, Millie, is turning one on September 8th.  We are having a party for her on the following Saturday with our friends and family.  Mitch, our DOO, is smoking pork shoulder for the party and we are very excited as he is a great BBQ’er!

Week In Review: Aug 24th-28th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Wow, has the summer just flown by or what?! Hope you all were able to get in some fun activities in with friends and family. Unfortunately, there never seems to be enough time to fit everything in. This summer, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the lake of the woods for the first time. We went out on our kayaks and did some fishing, hiked around the islands and just enjoyed the outdoors. For anyone who hasn’t gone here, I would recommend it, as the sights are gorgeous!

But enough about my personal life, let’s move on to what City Wide and the FSM's have been doing the last couple of months. There's never a dull moment, when it comes to maintenance at our facilities. Jarrad, one of our FSM's,  just encountered a flood at one of his accounts, due to all the rain we were having.  He was able to assist them with the flood restoration.  I, myself, am getting ready to do 48 turn cleans for an apartment complex on Monday.  We always have a different adventure, day in and day out.

This month, I am focusing on getting snow bids out to my customers and seeing what I can do to help them prepare for our MN winter. So, if you are looking for someone to care for your facility this winter, allow City Wide to be the first one you call!  Reach out to your FSM and any of us will be more than happy to help with the frustrating problem we call, snow.

Have a wonderful rest of summer!!

Week In Review: Aug 17th - 21st

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the North East!! We've had some nice, mild temps this week. After the scorcher last week, I was in hopes of some cooler temps and a break from the heat! We all know walking in and out of buildings each day is exhausting when you’re piping hot! ; )

The first half of August has been a busy one! Typically this time of year slows down a bit, but I’ve been able to work with some customers on getting certain projects handled. Included in these projects are: handyman work, parking lot repairs, light bulb changing, and of course the occasional carpet/tile/window cleaning projects we frequently perform. My recommendation for any customers reading this blog, would be to consider walking your space with your FSM or even having us send out a handyman to check out any projects you’ve had on the “list” for several months or even years by now. I had a customer, just last week, check off 10+ handyman-type projects from their list, just from one stop out by our experienced handyman. Projects such as vent repair, dryer service, wall chips/painting, door repair, ballast replacement, and more.

Hope everyone has a great tail-end to the summer, as we transition into fall and beyond!!

Week In Review: Aug 10th - 14th

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro:

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  It sure is going by fast!
Things have been steady on this side of town.  We continue to bring on new business regularly, which keeps us moving forward.  I have a new facility coming on board next week, which has me looking forward to new opportunities and relationships with these folks.
Believe it or not, NOW is the time to start thinking about snow removal.  Please reach out to your FSM if you would like a professional quote.  A few other big service opportunities coming up before fall are windows, carpets and hard floors.  Keep those areas in mind before the weather starts to change.

I recently just got back from a fishing tournament in Syracuse, NY on Oneida Lake.  What a cool place to spend time in the summer!  The weather was great and the the people were very nice.  I had an ok finish, wrapping up the tournament in 69th place.  I would love to get back there in the next few years...hopefully next time, I will do a little better in the tournament.

Week In Review: Aug 4th - 7th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Greetings from the Northwest Suburbs.  Hope summer is treating you well.

We are very busy at City Wide, starting new facilities and completing projects for our existing customers. Now that spring cleaning time has passed, and we haven't quite gotten to our fall push, we are spending time meeting with our customers to see what non-traditional services we can offer them.  Lawn and snow care, HVAC, and plumbing are just a few of these services. We have some great partners to work with in providing our customers solutions to all their maintenance needs.

On a personal note, I've spent my weekends enjoying the beautiful weather.  I played in a couple charity golf tournaments over the past month, which were a lot of fun.  I have also been out fishing and spending time up north with family and friends.

Thanks for all your business!  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Week In Review: July 27th - 31st

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

It has been an interesting last couple of weeks for me, both outside and inside the office. To start with, we have had one of the fastest growing years in City Wide’s History.  It has kept both the sales and ops departments very busy with new accounts, for this first half of the year.

Last week the office decided to take the afternoon off and have some fun together.  We chartered a launch service out of McQuoid’s in Isle, MN to go fishing on Mille Lacs.  All together, we caught 183 fish and we had a great time! Unfortunately, I did not take home any of the prizes (first fish, biggest fish, most fish) but I still had a lot of fun.

On a personal note, life has been very interesting.  My wife and I sold our first house and, unfortunately, did not find a house to purchase in time.  So, for about a month and a half we are staying at my parents’ house with our 10 month old daughter.  It's been a little crowded, but having a built-in babysitter is quite a treat!  The commute from Scandia, MN has also been a bit of a hike, so once we move 6 minutes from the City Wide office, it will be nice.  We move into our new house in August and can’t wait!

Week In Review: July 20th - 24th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

The summer months have been a lot of fun for us, here at City Wide.  Our two newer night managers are getting further developed into their roles...thank you Mark and Ivan, for a job well-done, growing at City Wide. We also just brought on our newest FSM, Joel Willert. Welcome aboard Joel!

Recently, we wrapped up all of the extra carpet cleaning and wax work and at a large group of medical clinics here in town.  Now, on to some other summer follow-up work for clients.  However, if your building is in need of carpet or wax services, we do still have some room in our schedule.

This past week, the FSM team and myself took a break from the office, and played a three team scramble at Oneka Ridge golf course in White Bear Lake. Tyler and Kirsten were victorious, finishing even on the round!  Joel and Jarrad finished two over. Meanwhile, I held Alex and myself back, while he carried us from the tee and we ended up finishing just three over.  It was a warm sunny day on the course, but the competition was very good amongst three teams, making it a fun outing! Looking forward to the next round of golf, now that we know how to balance the teams properly.

Aside from that, the sales team continues to bring on new business each and every month, for the Operations team to get started on. We recently took on a building on very short notice, in the Maple Grove area.  Thank you to Alex and Tyler for getting that building started the first night! We already have additional work lined up for them: pressure washing sidewalks, cleaning windows and wax work.  Additionally, we did some plumbing repairs for them on the very first night.  It's always great to be able to provide our customers with multiple services.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Week In Review: July 6th-10th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi from the South Metro-

The last couple months have been really active, here at City Wide. Our sales team has been out on the road, working on bringing in new accounts for myself and the other FSMs. This has kept us all on our toes and working hard! I have, personally, started 4 new accounts and enjoy being able to work with some really nice customers.

Just like we do with our new customers, we are also working hard to help our current customers maintain their facility.  Carpet crews have been onsite lately, to work on wear patterns and help eliminate them all together. Wax crews have also been onsite, to help make VCT floors look brand-new. It’s been an eventful summer, so far!

On a more personal note, I’ve been enjoying time up north.  Lots of fishing, camping, golfing and hanging out in the beautiful weather we've had.
Hope summer is treating you all well!!

Week In Review: June 29th - July 3rd

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Happy Summer from the north east metro! Business is pretty smooth-sailing up here. We’re getting into the slower summer months, where we tend to focus on parking lot work, lawn maintenance, and window cleaning. I am currently working on a larger window cleaning project; we are cleaning 4 large buildings for a property management company we work with here in the metro. Two of these buildings will be drop cleaned and the others will use large 40’ and 80’ boom lifts. I love these type of projects, as it helps supplement our current book of business. Please consult your local FSM for free estimates for whatever summer project you may have, large or small.

How much golf is too much golf? I don’t believe an answer exists if you’re as passionate about the game as I am. Yes, I love golf and have played about 30 rounds already this year. I typically play on a Tuesday night league and again on Saturday mornings, in the men’s club. I joined the men’s club following a recommendation from an old high school friend, whom has played in the league for many years. It’s been a great experience thus far, and I have networked with many of the league members. I would highly recommend joining a golf league, as it’s a great way to meet people, get outside and enjoy the beautiful summer months in Minnesota!

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July weekend!!

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro again:

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer!  Things have been pretty steady/consistent on this side of town, with carpet and window cleaning.  If anyone is looking to have these service done, please feel free to email or call me, so we can get your work scheduled.

Our sales staff continues to do a good job bringing on new business, which is exciting for everyone!  I would like to thank our Night Management staff for doing such a great job working with our crews and keeping up our customers' facilities.  The whole team appreciates all their hard work.

I leave for Virginia on the 4th for the 1st stop of the Bassmaster Northern Open on the James River.  Wish me luck, I will need it!  I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!

Week In Review: June 15th - 19th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Greetings from the Northwest Metro-
Summer is finally upon us and I hope everyone is enjoying it!  We have been very busy, starting new accounts and building new relationships, while our Sales team continues to work hard at finding us new business.  We have started 4 new buildings in my territory, in the past 2 months, which has been very exciting!  Myself and my night manager, Mark, have also been building partnerships with new cleaning crews and helping then get established in the industry.

On a personal note I have been enjoying golfing and fishing when I can.  The weather has been really nice, so I've been trying to get out as much as possible.

Hope everyone has a great summer!!

Week In Review: June 8th - 12th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

I never fail to be surprised by the activity we have going on in and out of our office, and this Spring into Summer has the same trend!  We’ve been very involved, taking on a new business each week and month.  Our sales team has had a very strong year of new business, that we are happy to be able to work on.

In the last 5 months, we’ve brought on a lot of new teams and crews to take on the work that we have coming our way.  It has been a lot of fun meeting the new people, getting them oriented to our systems and the industry as a whole, and kicking off the new facilities.  Our staff/crew members pay close attention to details to ensure the client is happy with their new level of cleanliness.

As usual, with Spring and Summer comes the post-winter cleaning.  I’m sure you’ve heard a lot from our management team in the previous weeks, discussing carpet, wax, windows and other deeper cleaning projects we’ve been involved in.  These next couple of weeks, we are wrapping up a 3 month project for one of our larger clients. We have been working each week and weekend on 3-5 of their sites for wax and carpet!

Last weekend, I was very happy to host the 2nd Annual City Wide BBQ at my house!  I woke up at 3am to fire up the smoker, inject the brisket, rub it down, and by 3:45am the smoker was dialed in at 250 Degrees and the brisket went on.  I cleaned up and went back to bed around 4:30 to grab a couple hours of much needed sleep.  -The night before was a successful evening of softball, rounding the bases.  Anyway, we had a great crowd this year at the BBQ!  It was enjoyable to see people out of the office on a Saturday, relaxing with their families, with no emails or phone calls coming in!  The highlight of the evening, for me, was the classic school yard game “4 Square” in my backyard concrete basketball court.  It started out with humble beginnings, but soon everyone wanted in!  We all took our best shot, but no one could take down Brian Mansfield, as the majority King Spot holder!  He won our traveling trophy, the City Wide Cup!  Congrats Brian, and thanks for making the trip up!

Week In Review: June 1st - 5th

Andrew Chapman: Sales Associate

Oh, what a busy time of the year it has been.  City Wide Maintenance of Minnesota has been starting new accounts with some of the biggest names around the Twin Cities and they’ve kept us busy as can be.  It’s always fun being able to offer our building maintenance solutions to facilities that were simply built to impress.  It really goes a long way too, when I point out some of the nicest facilities in the Twin Cities, and I can tell potential customers that those buildings are kept in such an elite condition because City Wide is taking care of them!  We have the finest group of Facility Service Managers whom guarantee their customers are happy 24/7, even if that means their nights are spent at our customer’s buildings.

We’ve also been working with a lot of schools this spring.  From past experience and the current schools we manage, we know that this is a great time of the year for faculty to review their janitorial services along with many other services as well.  It’s difficult to make a change in the middle of the school year, so we’ve received numerous recent calls from schools looking to have City Wide bid out their janitorial services.  If anyone knows of a teacher or school faculty member that isn't satisfied with their current janitorial service, have them call me!  Nobody wants a dirty office building or car dealership, but when we’re dealing with children, cleanliness is very important.

Even when I’m not helping new customers with their building maintenance concerns, I’ve continued to stay very busy.  I’m very excited to say that I’m getting married next weekend!  We have been planning for nearly a full year, but it feels like the last week has been completely consumed with wedding details and questions that I never imagined dealing with.  It’s very exciting that the big day is finally here and we’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone...but at this point, I just want to be married to her!  All together, everything should be amazing and I just hope my wife-to-be has the happiest day of her life!

Week In Review: May 25th - 29th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi from the South metro,

The past month, my night manager, Tyler, and I have been training and working hard at a new account of ours.  There's been much to learn about restarting a building, which will aid us in other unique new starts.  Tyler has put in a lot of extra time at this account, to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible.

Like myself, each of our FSM's has a night manager that works directly with them.  They are our eyes and ears during the night time hours.  Tyler and I have been a team for about a year and a half. Working with someone who is dedicated and hard-working is great!

On a personal level, I've been enjoying this weather.  I love to get out to do some gardening and golfing.  There really is nothing like Minnesota's summers.

Week In Review: May 18th - 22nd

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Happy Spring from the North East Metro!

Spring always brings the busy season into play.  As you’ve read from previous posts, our teams are busy with many Spring projects like window cleaning, carpets, hard floors and even parking lot work. We’ve all come to the realization, as Minnesotan’s, that our harsh winters play a big role in the condition of our facilities.  The salt plays a large factor in the deterioration of waxed floors, carpeted areas near entryways, and of course parking lots and roads.  Now is the time to schedule work with your FSM to get your facility a fresh look for the Summer months.

Aside from the many projects we offer, our customers often forget that we provide consumable supply ordering.  I handle the ordering for over 75% of my customers, as it saves the time and money in the long run.  We partner with several different companies in the metro area, and nationwide, with negotiated pricing to help save our customers the time and money that I’m sure could be used elsewhere.  Consult your FSM for a competitive bid.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Spring so far! Have an excellent long weekend!

Hello from the West Metro:

I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather.

Things have been steady as usually.  We have been busy this month with window cleaning and floor work.  We also have continued to bring on new customers which is keeping our operations team on their toes.  We appreciate the business!

Spring is now is the time to start thinking about window cleaning, parking lot maintenance, carpet cleaning, hard floor care, lawn service etc.  Please get in touch with your FSM if you are need of any of these services.

Things have also been busy in my personal life. My wife Lana and I just sold our house and moved into a new one.  Thank you, to our movers for all the help.

Week In Review: May 4th - 8th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Happy Spring from the Northwest Metro,

It has been a very active spring, getting our clients set up with their spring cleaning services. We have many customers that are getting their lawn and landscape ready for summer, along with window/carpet cleaning to remove the harsh build-up from the Minnesota winter.

Along with normal spring cleaning services, new construction cleans have kept us on our toes, as some clients expand their operations and facility's size. We have also done many detail cleans to get rid of all the dust and debris created by construction projects.

Now that the warmer weather is finally here, I can get back on the golf course. The courses are opening up fast and the fairways are in great shape, so hopefully it will be a good summer of golf!  With fishing opener right around the corner, I am also getting excited to spend some time with the family out on the water, enjoying the summer sun and hopefully catching some fish!

I hope you're enjoying your spring!!!

Week In Review: April 27th - May 1st

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

Happy Spring to everyone!  It's been a weather roller coaster since the middle of March, but we seem to have arrived!  So far, it has been a great spring, inside and out of the office at City Wide.  I have already been out swinging my golf clubs, running, making BBQ, and recently got started on my new Roller Skis to try and keep up with Tyler Olson.

The expected spring cleaning has arrived, and we are very busy cleaning carpets, waxing floors, cleaning windows, and starting up lawn care spring cleanups/cutting schedules.  We picked up a handful of new landscaping accounts in the last few weeks, and we have maintained our previous accounts.  So, we are ready to get started!

We’ve also been actively getting several new accounts started in all 4 territories.   Everyone's help and efforts in getting these accounts up and going and to their standards is much appreciated!

A couple of other highlights outside of the office:  A relaxing trip to the Dominican Republic, where I caught some nice sun!  Also, as I mentioned above, getting out to play some golf and the most-entertaining of all, getting used to my new roller skis!   -This a good way for me to continue developing my skills and ready myself for cross-country in the winter months.

Week In Review: April 20th - 24th

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

The last month or so has been a busy and fun time.  On the work side of life, there have been a number of new relationships created.  We have started cleaning for several new businesses.  One that stands out in my mind, is a local high-end car dealership.  I spent time out there when our crew began, to help ensure the initial cleans started off on the right foot.  From this experience, I learned a lot about degreasing and auto scrubbing floors, that I didn't know before.  I really enjoy the occasional outing to work with the crews, whom I sell services for.

On the personal side, I've had a ton of fun at home!  My daughter is growing more and more each day, and it is so fun watching her learn new things.  She recently figured out how to crawl and pull herself up on furniture.  I cant believe how much fun I have with an 8 month old!

Beyond that, I just returned from a great trip to the Dominican Republic with a hand full of fellow City Wide personnel from our market, among others.  We spent 5 days relaxing by the pool, swimming in the ocean, and getting some fun beach activities in.  The highlight of the activities, had to be kayaking in the ocean.  There were some 5-7ft waves that we were able to ride on the way back in!

Can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store!

Week In Review: April 13th - 17th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi again from the South Metro,

These last couple of months have been very busy for us at City Wide. We have started many new accounts throughout the Twin Cities, and have been working hard to get these buildings looking their best. Our night management staff plays a big part in making sure these accounts get started off on the right foot.

With spring finally here, we are beginning to think about spring cleaning options for our customers. Window washing and carpet cleaning are two jobs keeping us busy in my territory. With the sun and warmer temps, it's the perfect time to get going on this type of maintenance.  There's nothing better than having a nice, clean building!

In my personal time, I am enjoying time on the course. I took my clubs out for the first time a couple weeks ago. The courses opened in March, so we decided to give it a go.  Little did we know, it was still going to feel like winter out. Thankfully, when I went out last weekend, it was almost 70 degrees!

Hope you all enjoy the warm weather!

Week In Review: Mar 30th - Apr 3rd

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Spring is upon us, here in Minnesota.  Bring on the beautiful temps and the green grass!  Being the big golfer that I am, the green grass can't come soon enough for me either.  Hopefully, the lack of snow this year will lend a quick recovery to the greens and fairways, allowing for a quick return to the course. Historically, we've been able to begin hitting the links mid-April, but most courses around the north east have already opened!

With the warmer weather and the quickly diminished snow, comes Spring maintenance projects. Floor waxing, carpet cleaning and window cleaning make up most of our work, but we also specialize in lot sweeping and repair.  A few other services that we provide are crack seal, overlays, patching and line striping.  We also provide concrete work.  Just ask for a quote and we'd be happy to provide a free estimate for you!

I am happy to announce our newest night manager, Ivan!  He has joined our team, specifically in my northeast territory. Ivan has already been with us for a few weeks and is just wrapping up the training process. I look forward to working with you, Ivan!!

Hello again from the West Metro:

It sure is nice to see the sun again!  Things seem to be steady at City Wide, with Spring moving in.  Now is the time to start thinking spring services.  We offer a wide variety of services this time of year, such as: lawn care & landscaping, exterior window cleaning, parking lot sealing & recoating, and carpet cleaning & floor work.  Reach out to your FMS for pricing and scheduling.

Beginning April 1st, I have a new car dealership coming on board, so I am excited to get going at this new account.

Recently, I finished up with my first Bassmaster Open tournament in Jackson, Mississippi.  Let’s just say it didn’t go quite as planned.  None the less, I had a good time and learned a lot about the lake.

Week In Review: March 16th - 20th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Happy Spring from the Northwest Metro,

As winter has hopefully subsided and spring takes over, we are getting very busy at City Wide.  Now is the time for providing spring cleaning services to our customers. A large increase in carpet cleaning, VCT floor work, Ceramic tile cleaning and window washing are some of these services.

As the days get nicer, everyone wants their facilities to be looking their best.  In preparation for the upcoming summer months, we have been providing a lot of lawn and landscape bids to many of our customers.

Outside of spring cleaning, we have started many new accounts. I, myself, have started 5 new buildings since the first of the year.  I only see that number continuing to grow, as the sales team keeps bringing in more business for City Wide.

I am continuing to learn the position I am in, while receiving lots of great training from our FSM staff, and I look forward to a great summer of serving my customers needs!

Hope everyone has a great spring!!!

Week In Review: March 9th - 13th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

I would hate to speak too soon, but it appears that winter has forfeited here in 2015! Of course, as we all know this is Minnesota, and anything can happen in April or May.  My wish and hope, is that we escaped winter a little bit early this year and can have a nice spring, before the humidity & heat of summer arrives.

The first quarter of the year, we have been very busy starting up several new buildings, ranging from car dealerships, some office buildings, a few manufacturing sites, and a bunch of medical clinics!  Of course it's been a busy start, but it's nice to grow and bring on new business to take care of, which will shake up our day to day routine.

As we approach spring, we have already began to receive requests for updated landscaping bids and pricing for various clients.  We will quickly get busy with parking lot sweeping, pressure washing, strip and wax work, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, and all other spring cleaning-type projects.

In the last few weeks, we have also updated our resources, equipment, chemicals, and process related to deep cleaning of tile and grout. Whether it be found in your restroom or your entryway, we have a great solution in place to clean up your grout and restore it closer to its natural color.

With everything going on in the first quarter, I would like to thank our operations team for all of their time, energy, and efforts that have gone into starting this group of business! Also, a thank you to our Admin team for keeping it organized, and our Sales team for finding the work & helping to get it rolling!

Outside of the office, Liz and I have been busy barbecuing ribs & pork shoulders and hosting guests as they visit Minnesota for ice fishing and other winter activities.  I also joined our sales executive, Tyler Olson, in his ski race in Wisconsin. He completed the entire race. I did a shorter version, which was very challenging, yet exciting to accomplish!

Week In Review: March 2nd - 6th

Andrew Chapman: Sales Associate

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post.  We’ve had a lot of  growth at our company this year!  With all the new business, we’ve hired on an additional Facility Services Manager and Night Managers.  These are key roles in our organization, so we are able to put more focus on our management and remain available 24/7 for our customers. I suppose that with the new team members joining in on our blog, is probably why it's been so long since my last post.

Work is keeping me busy lately.  I have had the most appointments with potential customers since I started years ago.  We’ve had more and more Schools and Churches interested in our services, as we become increasingly more experienced and well known in both industries.  Spring time is always a popular time for us to scout out work with new schools.  As the school year comes to an end, most of the administration staff want ensure that their services will be improved upon for the following year.
All industries have their own specific challenges within their building. As we continue to grow and service larger facilities across the Twin Cities, we are becoming better at identifying these challenges beforehand. This enables us to proactively service all of our customers and their buildings.

City Wide has congratulated our sales team for having such a successful year in 2014, by offering us and our significant others a trip to the Dominican Republic!  That is coming up next month and I don’t think it could come at a better time.  I’m getting married this summer, so my fiancĂ© and I (mainly her) have been planning our wedding and trying to make everything come together in the next 3 months.  We had originally thought that planning a wedding wasn’t much to stress about, but we have quickly come to the realization that that's just not the case!  I’m really excited for the trip and all the wedding events we have ahead!  I’m truly blessed to be getting married to the woman I love and working with such an amazing company!

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi From the South Metro Again!

The beginning of this year has been very busy for us here at City Wide. We have been starting new accounts, hiring new people and growing as a company. It has been a fun, fast-paced environment!

I've recently started a couple of new account and have 3 more coming in March. It is always exciting starting a new account, meeting new customers and helping out where it is needed. I've been closely working with my night manager, on ways we can improve the quality of clean and we've been looking at different approaches to cleaning the facility. We plan to continue coming up with new policies and procedures, to make our customer happy with the cleanliness of their building.

Besides keeping busy with new accounts, I have been working on setting up spring projects with my customers- from carpet cleaning to window washing.

On a person note, I've been enjoying the winter while it lasts. I recently got back from visiting my good friend in Colorado. We stayed up in Vail, where we snowboarded for a few days and enjoyed the fresh powder. One of the days that we were out, it was 60 degrees at the peek of Vail mountain!

Hope you all are staying warm and enjoying the new year!

Week in Review: February 16th - 20th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Brrrr, it’s been a cold and windy mid-February for us all here in Minnesota! Thankfully there hasn’t been much snow to hamper travel times and turn our buildings into salt disasters. Sorry Boston, you got all our snow this year! I think us Minnesotans have gotten so accustomed to treacherous and slow travel each winter that this season has been a blessing in disguise. For me personally, it’s been “give and take” this year. I love to snowmobile and without snow, that’s not possible!!

On the business side of the coin; our copart Alex is off to a great start running his territory in the northwest metro!! It’s been great working with him getting accounts handed off efficiently and without interruption. His dedication right off the start has been much appreciate by all FSM’s across the board. Alex knows should he need any help, we are all ready and willing to provide insight on how to grow into an effective leader in our highly regarded team of Facility Managers here in Minnesota.

Week In Review: Feb 9th -13th

Jarrad Nickolite: Facility Services Manager

Hello from the West Metro,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Alex Underwood, our new FSM in the North West metro!  Alex has done a great job transitioning into all of his facilities!  He will be covering my Northern area moving forward...basically north of Hwy 394.  This, now allows me to stay South of Hwy 394 and spend a little more time in my Southern facilities. Additionally, I will be picking up some of Kirsten's facilities in this area.

Day to day business continues to be busy, with new customers coming on board and several additional jobs such as: construction post cleans, duct work cleaning, painting and patching work etc.
I recently finished my large vacancy cleaning, which included: power washing of warehouse walls, high duct work cleaning, using a scissor lift, strip and wax of VCT tile floors and carpet extraction.

Now is the time to start thinking about plans for carpet extraction in your facilities.  Please reach out to your FSM to get this on the schedule for April and May.  I know we haven't had a terrible winter this year, but the salt and sand always raise havoc for everyone.

On a personal note, I leave for Ross Barnett in Jackson Mississippi in three weeks. This will be my first tournament of the year.  Wish me luck... I will need it!
