Week In Review: Jan 26th - 30th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

Happy 2015 to everyone! I hope you had a safe and fun holiday season.  At the City Wide office, we just wrapped up our year and holiday season with a late, but very fun party at a MN Wild game.  We rented out a suite and had nearly everyone present from our company, along with a majority of their significant others. This was a very fun social event!  The Wild took good care of us (minus their loss), they had good food, snacks and a great view from our suite!

Back in the office, we’ve been busy watching our two new night managers develop into their roles and take over their territories. Alex, our new FSM for the North West metro, is taking off managing his own accounts, running a route and starting to identify additional needs in his clients’ facilities.  This has allowed me to step back from direct management of several accounts. I can now focus on the entirety of the territory, making more visits with our FSM team, and seeing 30-40 different clients a week throughout our territory!  I’ve really enjoyed the last few months- getting around to more of our accounts, meeting clients that have been with us a long time, and helping determine how we can be of further help in their sites.

It may have been posted up on the blog here already, but we had a very busy start to January! We started 12-15 new facilities on January 1st and 2nd.  It was a large group effort which involved everyone out helping at night, to get those buildings up & running.  Some of our team even worked on the holiday to get a new facility off the ground.  I always appreciate the willingness and extra effort that goes into these busier times, not only from our operations team, but also from the sales team as well.

Recently, we’ve had a couple visitors in town from different City Wide Operations teams and have really enjoyed their company.  Each of them came to visit us for different reasons, to learn some of our behaviors and best practices, so they could take that back to their office & improve their presence in their respective cities.  It is always fun to have visitors in town. In exchange, we get to gain a lot from them as well.  Happy 2015 again to everyone, and thanks for reading!

Week In Review: Jan 19th - 23rd

Tyler Olson: Sales Executive

After taking some time off around the holidays, it's been a crazy start to 2015!  It has been very busy for both our sales and our operations sides of the business.  We have started multiple new accounts this year, and have more opportunities on the table.  These opportunities have come from either new relationships with City Wide or growing relationships with our current clients.

I have managed to stay active in my personal life as well.  My wife, Jennae, and I have been figuring out the new parents thing.  Our gorgeous daughter is 4.5 months old now and I couldn’t be more obsessed with her!  I’m not sure if the level of excitement I have when she learns something new is healthy or not, but I get so excited watching her grow!

I am also in the midst of the cross country ski season, racing for the City Wide Maintenance Nordic Team.  Although the lack of snow has made training/racing more complicated and has even caused a few races to either be cancled or shortened, it has still been fun.  Two of my four biggest races of the year are in the books now.  I have competed in the US National Championships in Houghton, MI as well as the Seeley Hills Classic Ski Marathon in Seeley, WI.  Next up on the major race calendar is the Vasaloppet.  Then, I end the season with the American Birkibeiner.  I will also be racing in a few local smaller races, to help prepare for the big races.

Week In Review: Jan 12th - 16th

Kirsten Engels: Facility Services Manager

Hi from the South Metro!

We have been very busy the last couple of weeks, here at City Wide Maintenance of MN. We are starting new accounts all over the Twin Cities! Our team has been working hard to get these accounts turned around, so we can keep them looking clean. The salt has been a huge challenge, but thankfully we have an astounding chemical, which works wonders at breaking it all down.

This week, I was able to go down to Kansas City for some training.  I took away many useful tips, that I am excited to bring back to Minnesota!

On a personal note, I have been enjoying the winter weather.  A couple of my friends and I went ice fishing and I learned how to take the fish off the hook by myself!  Let's just say, I didn't see myself ever being able to do that. Aside from fishing, I've been to some MN Wild games, gone snowboarding and have been living up the Minnesota winter!

Week In Review: Jan 5th - 10th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Happy New Year from the northeast metro!! It’s a chilly one today, as we push forward into 2015. I was able to visit several customers Monday morning, following up from our first night of work last Friday. Everything went extremely well and I thank our night management staff for all their help and support. Starting 3 buildings in one night can be a challenge, and having an excellent team of night managers helped make this a smooth transition. There were also several other new starts going on in other areas of the metro as well, and I know the entire operations team was hard at work last Friday night.

To begin the new year, we have also added a new FSM to our team. Welcome aboard Alex! He will be taking over the north west territory, in which several of my accounts will be transitioned over to him. It’s a bittersweet event, as I have established some great relationships with customers in the northwest and will miss working with them daily.  However, the transition of accounts over to Alex will allow more time for my own growth in the north east metro. The Ops team has been very busy for the latter half of 2014 and we are thrilled to have Alex on board!
