Week In Review: Mar 21st - 25th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Greeting from the Northwest Metro,

Hope that spring is treating everyone well, aside from the spring snow storm that the south metro experienced.  In my territory things stayed dry, but there were many of our facilities in the south that got hit with plenty of snow.

With it now being spring, we are getting ramped up for all the spring cleaning projects at our customers' buildings.  It is a great time to remove the build up from over the winter, by getting carpets hot water extracted and VCT floors waxed, to bring back the shine.

Many of our clients are also relying on us to aid them in outdoor clean up of parking lots. We have been filling the schedule with parking lot sweeping and sidewalk/entryway pressure washing, to remove the leftover salt and sand that winter left behind.

It is also a great time to start getting windows touched up, so our customers can enjoy the sunshine through a spotless window. Many people that have an office window, really appreciate being able to enjoy the outdoor weather from inside, with a view that is not disturbed by water streaks and dust build up.

On a personal level, my girlfriend and I got a new puppy named, Aspen.  We are really enjoying the warmer weather and being able to spend time going for walks or enjoying the dog park near our house.  Before long, Aspen and I will be starting our formal hunting training to prepare her for next fall.

I hope everyone has a great Easter with family! As always, if there is anything myself or one of our Facility Services Managers can help with, please let us know.

Cheers!!!

Week In Review: Mar 14th - 18th

Mitch Brunette: Director Of Operations

Happy 'sort of' Spring to everyone! I hope you all have had an opportunity to get out and enjoy this great weather and get ahead of some outdoor projects around the house or your facility!  We’ve been busy here at City Wide, onboarding new clients, hunting for a long-term FSM, and knocking out early spring cleaning!

I have 5 clients that have a large amount of work that we execute in March, rather than in the middle of the April-June rush, that we often get.  We’ve already knocked out large scale wax work, cafeteria deep cleans, acid washing of tile, carpet cleaning, cube partitions, and more at these locations. We still have a few things to go too.

One of our clients had some outdated wall paper that needed to be removed or painted over, to make a nice impact on a large video conference space, which they have clients and executives using in a high frequency.  We brought in a great painting team of ours and went to work on painting. I wish I had a photo handy to share, because it really turned out great!  They elected a very dark blue for the upper 18” of overhang sconce, and a light grey for the room walls.  It really balances well and we were happy to help make that impact.

Aside from that, as I mentioned above, we are on the hunt for a long-term FSM for the South East Metro. In the meantime, I’m handling the territory and keeping things running.  Outside of the office, I squeezed in my first 9 holes last weekend at Birnamwood. It went well, but there is definitely some rust to shake off!  At home, the wife and I have been chipping away at exterior projects, getting our windows cleaned, getting leftover leaves from fall, reorganized the garage for summer items vs. winter, and hosted a mega birthday party here for Liz’s family of March birthdays.  It was quite the weekend!  Looking forward to next week, as we celebrate Liz’s birthday with our close friends.  Have a great week, and give us a call for any help you need in your facility!

Week In Review: Mar 7th - 11th

Dustin Hayes: Sales Associate

What a fast few months of 2016. It’s already March! I’ve had a great chance to forgo many new relationships, as part of my role with City Wide entails meeting new clients that we can help out each day. The weather has been outstanding recently and has made that part of my role quite nice, as I move from building to building. Tyler & I have also had a great time delivering gifts over the last few weeks, it was great to see some of the appreciative faces.

I have a great opportunity to visit our Tampa Bay market in the coming days. They seem to have a firm grasp on utilizing technology, to aid their role of helping out customers. Being the resident technology dork, I thought this would be a great opportunity to better myself, while enjoying some warmer weather. It should be an excellent trip and I’m looking forward to it!

On a personal note, I just enjoyed a few days of snowboarding with family and friends in Lutsen, Minnesota. Lutsen has an outstanding ski/snowboard resort that I get to once a year. I am amazed at the vertical feet available in Minnesota. It’s certainly not “out west” snowboarding, but is still a great challenge. I finally took the plunge and went down the split rock run, which was great! I had a chance to throw the snowboard on both my boys and that was a great experience as well. They both did a great job and are looking forward to next season.

Now it’s time to put the hard hat on and get back to work! Warmer weather coming is going to bring lots of opportunities for us to help more businesses around the metro. This couldn’t be more exciting for us to be part of that process, with the new relationships we make.

Week In Review: Feb 29th - Mar 4th

Tyler DuBord: Facility Services Manager

Greetings from the North East!! I can’t help but start this blog by commenting on the weather in this lovely State we call, home. Having a schedule driven by making onsite customer visits, I often find myself walking in and out of buildings; and when it’s sunny and warm, all is good my way. We were spoiled this past Saturday, with the 58 degrees and sun. It’s wild to think that within just 36 hours, the high temp dropped nearly 40 degrees. I’m happy when the sun is out while driving around. The warm temps are an extra bonus.

What’s new here in the North? We’ve accomplished several floor projects in the month of February, including a large Terrazzo floor polish, which went really well. The flooring was very old to start, but by following the 3-pad diamond process, we were able to restore most of the original shine that the floors were meant to give off. A pretty cool process overall. This process can be performed to several types of flooring, including terrazzo and even concrete floors. We’ve also been busy with smaller projects, like fridge cleaning and blind dusting, to name a couple. Please consult your Facility Services Manager for more details and pricing.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable March and beginning to Spring!!
