St Jude's Bass Classic

Joel Willert: Facility Services Manager

The Minnesota fishing season is officially open!  I am looking forward to some nice weather and spending as much time as possible on the water this year.

A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to fish in the St. Jude’s Bass Classic, on the Mississippi River, on pools 4 & 5.  The St. Jude’s Bass Classic was founded in 1998, by a group of anglers from Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The inspirational tournament unites two passions: fishing and raising money to support the children and families of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  To date, there has been over 2 million dollars raised! This year was another record-breaking year, with a total of $341,483 raised in support of St. Jude’s!  Because of its supporters, countless children at St. Jude’s have enjoyed a lifetime of moments they might otherwise have missed.

This year, there was approximately 70 2-man teams fishing in the tournament.  In order to enter the tournament, each fishing team must pay an entry fee as well as raise a minimum of $500.00, which goes directly to support the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.   My tournament partner felt a lot of pressure going into this year, as we had taken 1st place in 2015.  We figured out a good fishing pattern, and were feeling pretty confident about our chances going into the event.  However, we ended up falling a little short, and finished in 2nd place.  This tournament has yet to be won by the same team in 2 consecutive years.

I would personally like to thank City Wide Maintenance of Minnesota, as well as everyone else involved, for their contributions to this amazing event.  It is truly heartwarming to hear patients’ families speaking at the event and expressing how grateful they are of events like these that have impacted their lives!

Week In Review: May 9th - 13th

Alex Underwood: Facility Services Manager

Happy Spring/Early Summer from the Northwest Territory,
It's been a good start to quarter 2! We've been helping our customers accomplish their spring cleaning needs and prepping their buildings for the warmer weather ahead.

Lately, our schedules have been filling up with regular interior cleaning projects such as: carpet cleaning and floor waxing.  These are typical services after the wear and tear of the winter months. We have also had some customers request exterior building cleaning services as well.
There are several large projects happening this spring. We have many parking lot and ramp pressure washing and sweeping projects scheduled, as well as, getting loading docks and front entrance walk ways pressure washed to remove salt and sand build up from the winter.  I am assisting another one of my customers with patching, crack filling, seal coating, and stripping their parking, in effort to amp up the curb appeal for customers visiting their building.

On a personal note, the warmer weather has made it possible to get in a few rounds of golf so far. I had a long weekend in the Brainerd Lakes area with some friends, on a Golfing trip ,where we were all able to get in our first 72 holes of the year. With the moderate winter and rain this spring, the courses are off to a good start and in great shape. I hope you've been able to enjoy some of the sunny days, yourself!
As always, I hope you have a great rest of spring and beginning of summer. We are always here to assist with whatever projects you need at your facility.  Just give us a call!
